Shavlik NetChk Protect 7.8 Early Access
Yesterday evening our Development, Data, and IT teams finalized preparations for the launch of NetChk Protect 7.8. I’m excited to say that this morning we sent notifications to nearly 200 Shavlik Customers inviting them to join the Early Access Release for NetChk Protect 7.8. General Availability will be announced on March 15th, at which time all Shavlik Customers will have access to the new build.
There are many new features coming in this release, but most notable are the new virtulization features around VMware Hosted Machines. We have had very positive feedback from customers participating in the Beta and getting sneak peek demonstrations of NetChk Protect 7.8 as well as media coverage of this release including this article by Bruce Hoard in Virtualization Review Magazine. I am very excited to see this release become available to everyone as I see it fulfilling the needs of many of our customers.
Keep an eye out for more information regarding this release and join me on March 15th for a live Webinar where I will walk you through the new features of the product. There will be an opportunity for some Q&A as well during the Webinar.

Are there any plans to add a web based console to NetChk in the future. I would be great if I could access Shavlik running on a server via a web page instead of having to remote in to the server.

There have been many requests for a webconsole and I do know we are working towards this type of concept. I would like to make sure that anyone who would like a webconsole logs a feature request. shavlik.featureidea.com. Our fall release is already underway and this is not in scope for that release, but we are putting together the feature set for the spring 2012 release now. The more people logging feature requests the greater the chance this will be part of that release. No promises at this point, but it is in the running.
